About Us

 Although California Side Car (CSC) is currently the largest motorcycle trike conversion manufacturer in the world, it didn’t start out that way. California Sidecar was established in 1975 in southern California as a motorcycle sidecar manufacturer. In 1985 the current owner purchased California Sidecar with a vision to expand the product line and grow the company. Soon after, CSC expanded into motorcycle cargo trailers with the purchase of the Escapade trailer brand, and then something new, motorcycle trike conversions. The Friendship series of sidecars and the Escapade line of trailers were both re-designed and became the industry sales leaders by the early 1990's. By the mid 1990’s CSC was thoroughly invested in the trike market with the Tour model trike for Honda Goldwing 1500 motorcycles.

Following these huge successes, CSC relocated the factory in 1998 from sunny California to the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia. A move that placed the company right in the heart of its East Coast customer base. By the mid 2000’s trikes had taken over the majority of our business and with declining sales of sidecars, the decision was made to cease sidecar production and focus on trike development and manufacturing. 

From 3 employees and 4,000 square feet in 1985, today CSC occupies more than 75,000 square feet in Arrington, and Madison Heights Virginia, and employs more than 85 people.

Although we no longer manufacturer motorcycle sidecars, and are no longer in CA, we remain the trike industry leader in innovation, styling, and customer service, with a network of hundreds of dealers worldwide, and a product line that includes 3 trailer models and an array of trikes that will fit dozens of different motorcycle models from 3 different manufacturers, Honda, Harley-Davidson, and Indian. From the beginning to today we have always made it our goal to release the absolute best product possible at a competitive price.
